Friday, March 16 – crash day

A quiet night, thank goodness, we’re well-rested and enjoying a cool day.  Expecting more noise as folks arrive and celebrate the weekend, so we’re taking it easy in advance.  Tomorrow we move to the Mayan Palace, where we expect a very different experience than our little palace here on the hillside.  We shall see what tomorrow brings!
Reading progress:  a small book of vignettes from a member of Claudette’s family, looking back through the World Wars and the Communist era in the Jugoslavia region … an interesting collection of prose “snapshots” of “regular” life in unusual situations; The Washington Monthly – a fine recap of Obama’s accomplishments to date, among other good articles; Chicago which I haven’t read in a very long time.  Needlepoint progress.
And then, new neighbors across the canyon … HUGE birthday bash complete with video projected onto a large white wall … folks on THAT side of things had fun right up to 5AM, by my count.  On our side … well … you learn to sleep through it unless they call your name.
