Saturday, March 17 – Farmers’ market, pack’n’move

We went downtown early to catch the weekly “Farmers’ Market.”  It was advertised to be just two blocks down a familiar street, but the street goes straight up for a block so we went around on more level ground.  On the other side there was a steep set of concrete stairs we’d have had to clamber down … we surely made the correct choice.  The market was more of a “home kitchen” affair, lots of baked goods, jams & jellies, and sauces.  We did find strawberries (which we’d overheard people recommending highly), some granola, two fine-looking loaves of bread, and some peanut sauce … we’ll make satay one day soon!
Having completed the market tour (we could have made lunch AND dinner off of the samples) we ambled down to the frozen yogurt stand at the shoreline.  We were too early, but happy enough to just sit, enjoy the ocean breeze, and watch the waves come in.  The beach filled in gradually, the yogurt froze gradually, and around 11A we enjoyed a reprise of the orange/plain yogurt swirl we’d liked so well a few days ago.
Then it was time to stand up and stretch and find a cab back up the amazing hillside.  Linda made a  video which we hope to get posted somewhere so you, too, can share the experience.  We got pretty much packed up and at the moment we’re just passing time until our ride arrives at 2:30.  Then we plan to lay in some wine at the thrifty wine store downtown and we’ll be off to the Mayan Palace in Nuevo Vallerta.
